Week 13
My exam week is over,
and I got lots of free time.
Like, this week, only two days of school!

29/03/10
- Tested the Swamp Cave, and found a bug. (not fixed yet)
- I made a dude on the tower in the Swamp cave,
you got to shoot him off first,
this looks very funny!

I edited the Swamp Cave with Drew's new tiles.
Here is a example of how things look like now:

I made some changes in the background of the Swamp Cave.
Looks better now.

Anyway, I made the gameplay further too.
Like, after you let the tower explode, Jahn walks further.
Then there is a door, Jahn already says he has a bad feeling about opening that door.
You open it, you both walk in.
Then suddenly, a Tadari Member appears. (the commander)
He says he created the Swamp Monsters, and that he is gonna test Diuky.
This conversations gives the player more info about the Swamp Monsters.

What I am planning for Tomorrow and the day after:
- The Commander turns Jahn Dohnson into a Swamp Monster.
- Diuky has two choises:
- 1. Kill Jahn
- 2. Don't kill Jahn, and wait till the Tadari Member kills him.
These choises will have effect on the whole story.
Like, conversations change. (example ruden: "Ha! You are a true Tadari Member, you killed a innoncent man in the Swamp!")
More choises like these are coming, but not many. Maybe like... 5.

Fixed some minor bugs in the 'looking' engine of the Commander & Jahn Dohnson.

Oh no...
I opened my gmk, and pressed play.
And a error popped up: "Cannot replace the icon".
Then I can press ok, and some other weird error comes wich says he can't open a file in temp-documents.

Ok, it is the first of april,
but Im not joking here...

Damnit!

17:40 (one and a half hour later)
Oh wow, that freaked me out man.
But I think it is solved now.
After alot of error messages, and AVG even saw that there was a Trojan on my pc.
But, I wen't away, and now I started Gamemaker 8, and then loaded Dirkels from there.
Its fixed now.

Oh I am so glad it's fixed =)
I try to work on Dirkels now. (I finally have some more time now, exams are all done, and I got a 4 day weekend!)

During the conversation, Jahn transforms into a Swamp Monster.

Right now, after the talk, he starts following you, but quite slow.
I guess I make, that when he hits you, it does damage.

Oh cool, they talk now.
During the fight, the Tadari Member + Jahn talk.
Jahn says that you should not kill him, and the Tadari says you got to kill him.

Ok, Jahn can be killed now, but nothing really happens.
He just dies like a normal enemy.
And, Jahn does damage on hit now.
The fight is quite awesome! :)

The fight is not awesome.
There are ALOT of bugs. :\
I hate bugs...
Anyway, he doesn't follow you good, he doesn't hit you good.
And he won't 'die'.
His life is 0, but he doesn't destroy. Like his life stays on 1 hp.

Oh cool,
there was a problem, he somehow managed to put the 'following' variable to true.
So, I just put under the big code, that it was false.
It is kind of a lame way to solve it, but its solved now.

I had done alot, like, two different options.
But for some reason, it doesn't work that well...

Only some numbers in variables were wrong.
It is all ok now.
There are already two endings.
You can kill him, or not kill him.
And you are attracted to both.
So, it is a 50 to 50% chance on wich you will choose.

Here, the text is almost the same, but there are changes.

The way Diuky will speak will change too.
When he does more evil stuff, Diuky speaks more aggressive, and has lots of anger.
And when he does good stuff, he is sad, but also cooler.

I am also thinking of changing his appearance slowly.
Like, he looks angry when doing evil stuff,
and looks sad when doing good stuff.

I 'mapped' the part of the story dungeon Swamp Cave.
So, all the areas are there + the tiles and some objects, not all objects.
Also guys, I need some help.
I need help on the book topics, and on the Swamp Cave Dungeon made by ExWhyZed.

So, I am now busy with the talk with the Swamp Lord now.
He doesn't talk about why he exists yet, but, I already made, that
the conversations are very different, depending on if you killed Jahn or not.
Like, when you see eachother:
Not Killed: "Crap."
Killed: "YOU!?"
And more examples:
Not Killed: "Look, I am just on my way out of here. I already talked to your leader and..."
Killed: "You are that Swamp Monster#who put me in a cage!#Because of YOU I had#to kill Jahn!"

As you see,
the good Diuky, just wants it all to be over.
The evil Diuky is very aggressive, and wants to take revenge on everything.
(including his brother)

I kind of finished it a bit.
Or, atleast, it has a fight.
And you can kill the Swamp Lord. (ofcourse I will make now, that it stops when he is on 75% health.

So... I am playing with evil choices btw.
Anyway, first you got a conversation, as you see, you need to find a way
to destroy that barrel, you can do this, by leading his arrows towards it:

Things work better now.
Its very awesome.
When the Swamp Lord is on 75% health, he says he goes to the last room.
And that if you want to fight with him, you may come. (something like that)
And then he moves away.

This all works,
I go sleep now, but later I make more visual things, like quest marks, and quest log updates.
(so, story-dungeon is kind of done)

Added some doors, who open when boss fight is done.
So that you can't walk out the fight while fighting him or something.
I also made that you get xp and gold after defeating him, and your quest log is empty again.
So from this point, you are free to go.
You can choose to:
- Kill the Swamp Lord in the actual instance
- Go to Tildaer City

Also, I have come to a point, where it is possible to release a demo.
Only things i got to do are:
- Add something at some secret places I made.
- Add the positions of Jahn Dohnson to the save file, so that he won't change position when you saved, and then load it.
- Make dying possible.
- Add the Swamp Books + Baldir Book << omg I need help on that topic!
- Add paintings.

Things work perfectly now.
Like, music changes good now, and doors open at right moments. (and close)
Also, the choices work good now.
So the conversation changes ok.

Yeah, there were alot of bugs in that,
all fixed now.
First Story Dungeon Part = Finished.
(only need to put some objects there, inc. paintings)

Designed a big part of Grasslands 5.
I know where Tildaer comes now.

I have also made plans.
When the Swamp 'story' dungeon is done.
That is the actual ending of the demo.
You can walk in the Swamp a bit then,
and ofcourse do the Balderit Dungeon, or search for hidden stuff in Aldezars castle.
You will also have a small preview of the battle in Tildaer...
